Initially slated for an early September release, Polish game WARSAW is now scheduled for release on October 2. Independent video game publisher Gaming Company and developer Pixelated Milk have announced that they need more time in order to offer players the best possible experience.

Interestingly, WARSAW is the first-ever Polish video game to be allowed to present historically-accurate Nazi symbols, such as the swastika, in German. In that regard, the game has been approved by the German regulatory entity for ages 16 and above in its mandatory screening process.

With WARSAW, we wanted to create a game both culturally significant and great to play. With the originally planned release date approaching, we needed a few more weeks in order to deliver the best possible experience for players and to ensure we do our history justice,” said Gaming Company producer Krzysztof Paplinski.

WARSAW is a tactical RPG with turn-based combat in the same vein as Darkest Dungeon. However, the game is set during the titular Warsaw Uprising in 1944, so players will step into the shows of a Polish underground resistance leader and do battle against the city’s Nazi oppressors.

Just like in Darkest Dungeon, you'll be able to recruit, develop and manage their fighters as you take them into battle. You'll be encountering patrols, aid citizens and make tough decisions that will affect the resistance’s fortunes permanently.

Players will need to lead their troops throughout various areas of the city to try and liberate them. Also, developers promise a complex turn-based combat system, which includes mechanics like flanking, cover, positioning, weapon range and ammo consumption that need to be taken into account during firefights.

The similarities with Darkest Dungeon don't stop here, as death is permanent in WARSAW, so fighters killed in battle will be lost forever. More importantly, their death will have an impact on their loved ones and the resistance's overall morale.

Those of you who find the idea of playing Darkest Dungeon in a World War II setting interesting can add WARSAW to their wishlist on Steam.
