14 DAY TRIAL // Company of Crime is the name of the upcoming game from developer Resistance Games. As the title says, it's a tactical turn-based game that blends elements of empire-builder and strategy genres with a heavy focus on melee combat.
Publisher 1C Entertainment revealed Company of Crime will be released for PC this summer, but those interested can already wishlist the game on Steam. No price is available for the upcoming title yet, but this looks like an indie game.
In Company of Crime, players can choose to become a leader of a cruel gang and build a company that will rule the criminal underworld or play as the chief inspector of Scotland Yard’s famous Flying Squad.
Regardless of what side players choose, they will have to build a team that consists of gang members possessing the different skills required to pull off criminal tasks, or detectives that have mastered the art of investigation.
As far as the story goes, Company of Crime is set in London during the 1960s. As players progress in the game, they will be able to visit pubs, clubs, vets, tailors, harbors and many other locations around London as they expand their influence over the city.
There are some interesting heat mechanics included in the game, so you'll have to be very careful what shady operations you're taking on since the cops will be all over you after a while. After each mission, your business will improve beyond just hit points and stamina.
In case you're taking the shady path, your objective will be to force people into selling their businesses and homes to you at a bargain price, or at least turn a blind eye to what you do in their back room.
It's not going to be an easy task though since the police's gameplay will be more reactive. On the other hand, if you choose to play the Police, you'll only get notified about shady businesses when violence takes place, but you'll have to work hard to find evidence against the criminal families.
