From the creators of Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden

The Bearded Ladies, the studio behind Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, an XCOM-like strategy game launched last year, announced a brand new game that is scheduled for release no later than next week: Corruption 2029.

Despite the fact that it's a new IP, Corruption 2029 retains many of the elements of Mutant Year Zero, such as turn-based combat and stealth, tactical combat. As the name suggests, the game is set in a dystopian America in a not-so-distant future and will have players command a squad of augmented soldiers who are trying to infiltrate “an inhuman regime.”

Judging from the trailer released, Corruption 2029 is a slightly reskinned Mutant Year Zero featuring a different story. The core mechanics remain the same: cover-based combat, stealth, skills, and distinct weapons.

Just like in their previous game, Corruption 2029 will reward players who scout ahead before engaging the enemy. Exploring environments and discovering vantage or chokepoints, perfect for ambushes, will dramatically improve players' chances of winning the fights easier.

Although not much else is revealed in the trailer and the official press release, we doubt Corruption 2029 will be much different than Mutant Year Zero gameplay-wise. Of course, that's hardly a bad thing, but we have like to see the studio explore different genres or at least continue the story from their first game.

Corruption 2029 is a single-player game, at least according to the listing on Epic Games Store, so don't expect any co-op modes at launch.

Anyway, it's important to note the game will be released on PC via the Epic Games Store on February 17 for just $20 / €20. It will probably be launched on Steam next year, but for now, you can pre-order Corruption 2029 via Epic Game Store at full price (no discounts, sadly).
