Great news for D&D fans, as developer Tactical Adventures has just announced their game, Solasta: Crown of the Magister will launch on Steam and GOG on May 27. After seven months in Early Access, the game will be released with all the features promised during the Kickstarter campaign that made this project possible.

For those unaware, Solasta: Crown of the Magister is a tactical RPG that features fresh elements of verticality, team-based adventure, a dungeon maker, character customization, and hours of authentic tabletop gameplay.

As mentioned earlier, the game follows D&D rules, as Wizards of the Coast has granted Tactical Adventures a license to use the Dungeon & Dragons SRD 5.1 content in Solasta: Crown of the Magister.

Although Solasta is a team-based tactical role-playing game, each character plays a critical role in the campaign and can be a hero. The dynamic and mysterious world features elements of verticality, allowing players to use their surroundings as an element of strategy.

Throughout the encounters, players will be able to position ranged characters on high vantage points or send their rogue down into shafts and caverns to scope out what lies ahead. More importantly, light is a major tool in Solasta, as it allows players to explore the depths and hallows of dungeons or can be used as a weapon against the creatures of the dark. However, if players are not careful, it will give away the party’s position to nasty creatures bent on their demise.

Those who already own the early version of the game should rest easy, as developers announced they will do their best to not break save compatibility. Still, it's recommended to start a fresh run, as developers will make many changes between the current version of the game and the full release.

The fine folks at Tactical Adventures say that they don't plan to add more content to the campaign, but they do intend to keep the game as bug-free as possible.
