The development team at Square Enix working on Final Fantasy XV is using a new message delivered in time for New Year's to reassure the fan base that they will launch the ambitious Japanese role-playing game before the end of the year and to give them some hints about the state of the game creation process.

Hajime Tabata, the director leading the entire team, explains on the official site that effort and willpower are the main attributes required to deliver a finished and high-quality title, replacing the wisdom and strength that dominated in 2015.

He adds, "I vow to you all that every member in the team will do their best to the very last possible moment taking responsibility and pride in their craft. We will do everything we can do to finish FFXV to create an experience we are incredibly proud of and one that you will enjoy and treasure. The whole FFXV team appreciates all of the support from each and everyone one of you this past year."

At the moment, Final Fantasy XV is set to arrive on both the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft before the end of the year, and a clear date will probably only be revealed during E3 2016 or even later.

The protagonist of the JRPG is Noctis Lucis Caelum, the prince of Lucis and an Oracle with special powers that have emerged after a near-death experience.

He needs to gather a band of fellow adventurers to oppose the empire of Nilfheim, an invading medieval structured society that focuses exclusively on weapon development, and will also need to deal with a powerful supernatural threat that has not yet been fully detailed.

Tabata says that it wants to offer a deep story while also making the exploration and the combat system easier to interact with, making it simple for long-term fans to engage with the new game while also drawing a range of other gamers to the franchise.

Square Enix aims to grow in 2016

Yosuke Matsuda, the president and director of the Japanese publisher, says that his company is entering a new growth phase during 2016 after establishing a very solid foundation during the previous year.

He suggests that the Final Fantasy-based MMO business is growing at a solid clip and that the coming XV is one of the most important products the publisher is currently working on, although he does not hint at a launch date.

The executive also says that Square Enix is looking to use its biggest intellectual properties in new gaming spaces, including virtual reality and alternate reality, even if he is unwilling to offer information on exact universes or characters that will be used.

Final Fantasy XV might be the biggest title that the company is currently working on and the one that can create the biggest revenue in the long term.

The older titles of the franchise will also continue to get re-launches on a variety of platforms and the publisher also claims that it will reveal a new major RPG project during E3 2016.
