Apparently, Microsoft only negociated with AT&T

We reported earlier today that Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL might not be available in the United States through all major carriers. In fact, the smartphones will only be sold through Microsoft's official store and AT&T.

AT&T has already confirmed it will offer the Lumia 950 to its customers beginning November, while the Lumia 950 XL can be had through Microsoft Store around the same timeframe.

Even though Microsoft denied previous rumors claiming that both Lumia smartphones powered by Windows 10 Mobile would be exclusive to AT&T, it looks like they won't be available through any other carrier.

According to T-Mobile's CEO, John Legere, his company is open to carrying any of the two Lumia smartphones, but Microsoft did not bother to approach the carrier and preferred to give them directly to AT&T.

“To be clear: We did not turn down the new Windows devices. MSFT gave to AT&T. If Microsoft wakes up, we'll talk about T-Mobile carrying,” states Legere in a tweet.

Get them unlocked via Microsoft Store

That is a very strange statement considering Microsoft's claims that Lumia 950/950 XL are not exclusive to AT&T and does not bode well for the Redmond-based company, which was expected to try to push the new devices through all major carriers in the US.

Anyway, the unlocked versions of Lumia 950/950 XL are fully compatible with T-Mobile's network, so at least Windows Phone fans have that.

In other news, Canadian carrier Rogers has just confirmed that it has no plans to offer the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL smartphones yet.

As MobileSyrup points out, both devices can be pre-ordered via Microsoft Store for $749 CAD and $849 CAD outright, respectively.

That being said, it looks like Microsoft doesn't have a clear market strategy for the new Lumia smartphones, so we can only hope that they will be made available through more carriers in order to help push Windows Phone OS to more customers.
