Paradox Interactive teased a brand new strategy game early this month and promised to reveal it before PDXCON 2019 kicks off on October 19 in Berlin. There were so many fans hyped that Paradox might announce Victory IV that the publisher had to confirm that its new strategy game is not part of the Victoria franchise.

Today, the game has been revealed as a sequel to Surviving Mars, the survival colony builder developed by Haemimont Games. The new game is called Surviving the Aftermath and it's a post-apocalyptic survival colony builder that will be launched in late 2020.

Paradox also announced that players who want to get their hands on the game ahead of launch will be able to purchase and play it later this year, as Surviving the Aftermath will be available in Early Access on the Epic Games Store and Xbox Game Preview.

That's about all we got about the upcoming Surviving series game, but Paradox promised more details about Surviving the Aftermath will be revealed on October 19.

Apparently, the Surviving franchise has experienced record growth in 2019, especially since the Green Planet expansion was launched in May. In other words, Surviving Mars was a sleeper hit that exploded one year after its official release.

With the staggering growth of Surviving Mars this year we knew we had something special and we wanted to find new ways to utilize survival management gameplay. Surviving the Aftermath gives us the opportunity to experiment with these mechanics in new and interesting ways that we think our players will love,” Nikhat Ali, Lead Producer on Surviving the Aftermath and Surviving Mars at Paradox Interactive, said.

Those who didn't play Surviving Mars yet and don't own the game will be happy to know that Paradox has partnered with Epic Games to offer the game and the Space Race DLC for free from October 10 until October 17.
