While Samsung is working around the clock on getting the Android 12 update ready for its devices, the company somehow still has enough time to ship patches to its super-old models.

Including the Galaxy S8, that is, as the nearly five-year-old smartphone is apparently getting a new update as we speak.

As per a report from SamMobile, Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ owners in France are now being provided with updates with firmware version G95xFXXUCDUK1, and of course, the same improvements are projected to roll out to more users in the coming days and weeks.

The update brings the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ to the November 2021 security patch, therefore getting recent security improvements that certainly come in handy to those who are still using these old devices.

Needless to say, Samsung has remained completely tight-lipped on this release, so if you still use a Samsung Galaxy S8, you’d better check for updates these days.

New models coming in January

In the meantime, Samsung is working on finalizing other new phones projected to launch in January, including the Galaxy S21 FE, which is expected at CES, and the Galaxy S22, which should see the daylight in the second half of the month.

The Galaxy S22 is obviously the more anticipated product, as it spearheads Samsung’s mobile efforts and is often considered as the best alternative to Apple’s iPhone.

The device will come with several major hardware upgrades, including improved displays and cameras.

2022 is expected to be a very busy year for Samsung, as the company will also launch new foldables, as well as a possible refresh of the Note lineup that was skipped in 2021. Samsung hasn’t said a single thing about its 2022 product plans, but without a doubt, the company is gearing up for some pretty big announcements.
