After teasing many of Streets of Rage 4's gameplay features in the latest few months, publisher and co-developer Dotemu with co-developers Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games have just revealed that the game will hit PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One as well as Xbox Game Pass on April 30 for €25/$25.

The legendary beat'em'up introduces the Battle Mode, a legacy experience that makes a comeback from the previous installments in the series – Streets of Rage 2 and Streets of Rage 3. The most recent trailer offers a glimpse into the Battle Mode where players will be able to witness a few of the ways champions will be able to dominate their allies.

In Battle Mode, players get to choose their favorite characters and test their skills against one to three friends across several iconic levels. Although Streets of Rage 4 is all about cooperation, Battle Mode offers players the possibility to test their combos and specials, as well as discover their favorite playstyle.

Furthermore, the three developers that worked together to bring Streets of Rage 4 to larger audiences – Dotemu, Lizardcube, and Guard Crush Games, unveiled details about how they incorporated the recently announced pixel art characters and classic Streets of Rage 1 and 2 soundtracks into Streets of Rage 4.

We didn’t have any new tracks to work with at the beginning, but we knew we wanted something with the same spirit as the previous soundtracks. We used classic Streets of Rage 2 tracks like “Go Straight” as placeholders in order to maintain a “Streets of Rage flavor” while testing the game. What we ended up with was a mix between beautiful new sounds and old-school 16bit-era music, and it felt so right that we decided to put all our effort towards integrating this as a feature in the final game,” explains Cyrille Imbert, Executive Producer, Dotemu.

The first installment in the franchise in more than 25 years, Streets of Rage 4 reunites Axel, Blaze, and Adam while introducing fresh fighters and combat depth, a gorgeous fluid hand-drawn art style, and an all-new scenario as well as city boroughs to crack skulls in.

Not to mention that the game benefits from the original soundtrack composed by Olivier Derivière, including massive contributions from series composers Yūzō Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima.
