The development team at Capcom working on Street Fighter V has announced that it has extensive post-launch content delivery plans for the fighting game, which include the addition of new characters that gamers will be able to try and master.

Fans of the experience have data-mined the files for the recent beta that ran on the PC and have found clues that the six new fighters that are planned as downloadable content include some classics that fans love.

The list is made up of: Guile, one of the most efficient characters that appeared first in Street Fighter 2; Balrog, also first seen in Street Fighter 2; Ibuki, delivered by Capcom in Street Fighter 3; Juri from Super Street Fighter 4; Alex, as seen in Street Fighter 3; and Urien also from Street Fighter 3.

The files do not make it clear whether the team wants to offer the new characters as seen in the previous titles or if they will have new abilities for Street Fighter V.

The six new characters will arrive over the course of one year, and gamers will be able to get access to them using the Fight Money currency or by simply paying real-world money.

Capcom has another launch character to reveal, who is only referenced in the files as Fan.

The data mining also shows that a ranking system is being created, with categories ranging from Rookie to Hero, and with subcategories like Super, which should make it easier for matchmaking to deliver balanced battles.

Online action will be a big part of Street Fighter V

The development team at Capcom has concluded a beta testing period that focused on cross-platform play, and the company seems to be happy with the way their new netcode and server infrastructure are performing.

Multiplayer is an important part of Street Fighter V, and the company needs to make sure that it is easy for gamers to get into matches and that lag does not pose a problem in the long run.

Capcom is also already making plans for the Pro Tour set of events that will support its new fighting game.

The PC beta files are suggesting that a big number of tournaments are being prepared, with Shoryuken giving fans a look at a list of names and countries where they will take place, although some of them look like placeholders.

Premier, ranking and online versions of each event will be introduced, and there are also clues that Capcom is preparing to create an in-game system to allow fans to watch high-level matches and even interact with other fans who are doing the same.

Street Fighter V will be launched on the PlayStation 4 from Sony and on the PC on March 16 of next year in North America and two days later in Europe.

Capcom believes that the mix of new characters and improved gameplay mechanics will allow it to sell more than 2 million copies of the title on both platforms before the end of next year.
