Coming exclusively to PlayStation 5 sometime in 2021

Cats are lovely familiars for gamers, but to have a cat as the main star in a game, that's quite unusual. Stray is a PlayStation 5 exclusive from publisher Annapurna and developer BlueTwelve. The game was revealed last week during Sony's The Future of Gaming event, but information like release date has been left out from the trailer.

Stray plays like an exploration game only that this time you'll be stepping into the shoes of a cat. The game plays in the third-person perspective and is set in a futuristic city populated by weird robots who simulate human activities.

Objectives are usually less important for exploration games like Stray, and the trailer doesn't reveal anything about that, but we do know that players will get to explore “the detailed neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly.

Playing as a cat in a cybercity is no small feat though, as you'll be facing “unforeseen threats and solve the mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by nothing but unassuming droids and dangerous creatures.

The premise certainly sounds interesting, so we can wait to get our hands on Stray, a game that puts cats right and center. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we'll be able to play Stray very soon, as Annapurna announced the game will be coming to PlayStation 5 no sooner than 2021.

The good news is that developer BlueTwelve confirmed it will show more of the gameplay like exploration and puzzle-solving throughout the remaining year, so stick around for more news on Stray.

As far as supported platforms go, Stray seems to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive, but there's a high chance that it will be launched on other platforms after the agreement with Sony ends, which usually happens after about one year.
