Eternal Threads is the name of the new game from developer Cosmonaut Studios coming to PC and consoles next month. Announced earlier today, the time-twisting narrative adventure is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 19. Also, a Nintendo Switch version has been confirmed to arrive later this year.

A single-player, first-person, non-linear narrative adventure about time manipulation, choice and consequence, Eternal Threads follows the story of an operative tasked with fixing corruption in the timestream. Yes, it sounds like a plot taken directly from the Loki series, but Eternal Threads is definitely more than this, at least on paper.

Sent to the North of England in May 2015, where six people died in a house fire, your character must manipulate the choices made by these people in the week leading up to it so that they all survive the event, since you are forbidden from simply stopping the fire.

Once you arrive in the 2015 England, your character can freely explore the seven-day timeline before the fire. You’ll be able to watch and alter the events from the entire week as many times as you like and in whatever order you wish. While some decisions will have minor effects on the timeline, you will at least be able to learn deeper stories and secrets.

Major changes, however, rewrite the timeline by changing existing events, adding new events, and even replacing other events entirely. The main objective is to save all six housemates in any way you can without actually stopping the fire.

This sounds like an interesting premise and an even more interesting gameplay mechanic. In case you’re interested in trying Eternal Threads before the game’s launch in May, you’ll be able to download a free demo that will be available between May 2-8. Also, you can wishlist Eternal Threads on Steam right now.
