The team might also deliver more multiplayer action

The development team at Stoic Games has just launched the second installment in their The Banner Saga series, and the company is already willing to offer some limited details about the third title in the franchise, which will apparently be stranger and stranger and will explore some of the weirdness associated with the Norse-influenced mythos they have created.

Speaking during a PAX East 2016 panel Arnie Jorgensen, one of the leaders of the studio, suggested that this company has long-term plans for the franchise and aims to flesh out the universe for a long time if gamers are willing to engage with it.

Gamespot quotes him as saying that, "The longer we get to do this, the more of the world we'll see."

Stoic says that there are plenty of other stories from The Banner Saga universe that can be told, including ones that feature entirely new characters that have no connection with the story that's being explored in the first two titles.

The development team has also suggested that it might deliver another multiplayer focused entry in the franchise, building on the ideas introduced in the Factions experience that was offered before the full game arrived.

Stoic is apparently also considering other spin-offs but the fact that the studio is a small one means that it needs to carefully choose which projects it works on if it wants to deliver the level of quality that fans expect from them.

The Banner Saga tells a complex and dark story

During the PAX East 2016 panel, Stoic also delivered a new In Memoriam trailer for the game, which celebrates what gamers have lost over the course of the story so far, looking at how their choices affected the narrative.

The video is created by Kris Straub, who is a contributor for Penny Arcade, and the development team also makes it clear that it will deliver home console and mobile device versions of The Banner Saga 2 before the end of the year.

Stoic is made up of developers who have also worked at BioWare and wanted to work on a more narrative-focused experience.

The Banner Saga 2 offers the same dark atmosphere of the first title in the series but makes player choice even more important than before while introducing some interesting quirks to the combat system.
