Vaporum is a grid-based dungeon crawler RPG set in an original steampunk universe. The game was developed by Fatbot Games and released on PC back in 2017. Today, the Slovakian studio announced the prequel to Vaporum will be coming to Steam no later than September 15.

Dubbed Vaporum: Lockdown, the game remains faithful to the same formula, which means it will feature that same grid-based action in the original game. Vaporum: Lockdown, just like the predecessor, is inspired by classics such as Dungeon Master and Eye of the Beholder, or the new Legend of Grimrock series.

As expected, Lockdown expands on everything that made the original game good, so those who played it should expect many improvements from the prequel. Although it features old-school grid-based dungeon crawler gameplay, Vaporum: Lockdown has modern audiovisuals and controls.

Also, the game includes a unique gadget-based RPG system with a lot of room for customization, loads of loot, and tons of synergies to find. Naturally, as with all games under the grid-based dungeon crawling category, Vaporum: Lockdown features mind-bending puzzles and hazards to keep you on your toes even when you think you're safe.

Story-wise, the game follows Ellie Teller, a young scientist, working on teleportation research in a grand secret project—Arx Vaporum—hidden in the middle of a vast ocean. We can't be more thankful to developers that they chose to fully voice the game's female protagonist.

Apart from that, Fatbot Games says we should expect an intriguing story, an immersive steampunk setting, and first-person real-time combat with scary enemies that often use their varied abilities to try and kill the players.

It's also worth mentioning that Vaporum: Lockdown features full controller support and it's been localized in 8 languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Russian, Polish, Japanese, and Chinese. Vaporum: Lockdown can be wishlisted on Steam right now if you want to be reminded when the game goes live on Valve's digital distribution platform.
