Microsoft has indeed brought back the Start menu in Windows 10, but it’s no secret that not everyone likes this “new and modern” design pretty much because they’re still in love with the Windows 7 look.

That’s why third-party apps such as Start Menu 8 are still very popular, as many users are searching for ways to replace the Windows 10 Start menu with one that looks like the version implemented in Windows 7.

An update released today for Start Menu 8, now at version 3.0.0.1, is supposed to make you completely forget about the Windows 10 version and get back the familiar desktop that you had on Windows 7.

Full support for Windows 10

First and foremost, it’s worth mentioning that this version brings full support for Windows 10. While the previous builds of Start Menu 8 also worked fine on Windows 10, this is the first one that is actually built for Microsoft’s new operating system, so you shouldn’t experience any compatibility issue on your PC.

Then, the application comes with improved search feature, which is now supposed to be faster and more stable. The built-in search feature definitely came in handy to Windows 7 users, and they’re very likely to look for its sibling in Windows 10, so Start Menu 8 now truly delivers it.

Switching from the Windows 10 Start menu to the Start Menu 8 skin is now easier too and only requires you to press the Windows key. The update also brings support for 43 languages, so you should be able to use the application in your own language too.

There are no visual changes, and you can see more Start Menu 8 screenshots here.

Overall, this is clearly one of the best replacements for the default Windows 10 Start menu, so go ahead and download Start Menu 8 to give it a try right away. If you’re afraid that something bad can happen, although that’s very unlikely, you can always create a restore point before anything else.
