Great news for Stardew Valley fans, as Eric Barone, the mastermind behind the critically-acclaimed title, has just released a major content update that brings loads of new features and improvements to the beloved farming simulation RPG.

Content update 1.4 is now available for free on PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam and GOG, but it will be available on consoles and mobile soon. If you're playing on mobile, keep in mind that 1.4 save files will not work on the current 1.3 mobile version.

With that out of the way, let's talk a bit about the highlights of the update. Well, first off, content update 1.4 brings a new end-game mystery, which involves an abandoned building. We're not going to spoil anything for you, so you'll just have to play the game and see how things end in Stardew Valley.

More character events have been added, including a new 14-heart event for every spouse. Fish Ponds, a new farm building that allows players to raise fish and harvest a variety of items from them are now part of the game as well.

There's also a new farm map called Four Corners, which is suitable for the new separate money option in multiplayer. However, the map is equally suitable for solo players or cooperative farms. Each quadrant of the map has a different perk, but intruding cliffs reduce your total farming area.

Also, the update introduces 60 new items, 24 new hairstyles, 181 new shirts, 35 new hats, 14 new pants, and 2 new boots. The Junimo Kart has been completely redesigned and the sheds can now be upgraded to double their interior size.

Last but not least, 2 new monsters and 2 new alternative levels to the mines have been added, along with a new type of upgrade at the Blacksmith and an emote menu for your farmer. Although these are some of the most important changes included in the update, Stardew Valley 1.4 packs a huge amount of quality of life improvements, which haven't been mentioned here.

However, you can check out the complete changelog of the update, but keep in mind that there are a lot of spoilers in there, so you'd better avoiding it if you don't like spoilers.
