A new report confirms that Starbucks will soon start upgrading its wireless charging ecosystem across the entire coffeehouse chain to support Apple's new iPhone 8 and iPhone X smartphones.

Powermat has confirmed for Slashgear that they will upgrade their public charging pads lineup to support the Qi wireless charging standard that Apple implemented in the all-glass body of the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X devices that the Cupertino-based company unveiled earlier this week.

The world's popular coffee shop chain already offered wireless charging pads to Android users, but now that Apple has finally embarked the wireless charging bandwagon, it's time for Starbucks also to welcome Apple fans that are buying an iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus device starting September 22, or an iPhone X early November.

Great news for iPhone owners and coffee enthusiasts

It is believed that Starbucks and Powermat are currently working together to update the wireless charging pads in each coffee shop where they're available, aiming to finish the Qi-standard implementation at the end of the fall season, just in time for the worldwide adoption of the iPhone 8 and iPhone X.

If you regularly visit Starbucks and decided to upgrade your iPhone device, you can now pre-order the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models, which come with built-in wireless charging support. As for the iPhone X, you'll have to wait until October 27 to pre-order one, and you'll be able to buy one starting November 3, 2017.

All in all, this comes as great news for iPhone owners and coffee enthusiasts who like to visit Starbucks often, as they'll have one more place on the long list of locations where wireless charging is provided for free, along with Internet access if you like to work from a coffee shop instead of your office or home.
