New artwork raises more questions, is still welcome

That sound you’re hearing is the sound of millions of die-hard “Star Wars” fans not being able to contain their enthusiasm, as Disney has released new promos for the upcoming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” The film will be out in theaters this December and it’s poised to become the biggest release of the year from its opening weekend.

Since we’re still a couple of months until December, Disney is doing its best to promote the reboot without giving away too much of the plot. This would explain why the new official poster, though apparently very revealing, still leaves many questions unanswered.

The biggest one is, without a doubt, where in the world is Luke Skywalker? We know that Mark Hamill will be reprising the role that made him an icon, but there isn’t a trace of him on the new poster. On the bright side, at least with it we get a first official look at Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia.

However, Rey and Kylo Ren are front and center in the new poster, with Finn lingering a bit farther back. Finn is still wielding a lightsaber that looks like the one Luke Skywalker lost at the end of “The Empire Strikes Back.”

As a bonus, Disney has also released new teasers for “Star Wars,” which is the first in a new planned series including both direct sequels and spinoffs / universe expansions.

“Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens” (full title) is directed by J.J. Abrams, off a script by Abrams himself and Lawrence Kasdan.
