EA has just revealed the sequel to the critically-acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The product of the collaboration between EA, Respawn and Lucasfilm Games, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is set for release on PC and consoles in 2023.

What’s interesting about the announcement is that unlike Fallen Order, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will no longer release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, just on the new consoles: “… is being built for the current generation of gaming hardware to create a deeper and more expansive Star Wars experience for players worldwide when the game launches in 2023.”

Set five years after the events of Jedi: Fallen Order, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor promises expand upon the iconic Star Wars stories, worlds, characters, and thrilling combat. Cal remains the protagonist of the series, as he must now stay one step ahead of the Empire’s constant pursuit.

Accompanied by his trusty companion BD-1, the last remaining Jedi in the galaxy will meet and ally himself with a slew of unique and interesting characters on his journey. Developer Respawn also revealed that Jedi: Survivor will expand on the series’ dynamic combat in new and innovative ways. In that regard, Cal absolutely must learn new skills and grow his connection with the Force in order to survive.

Millions of Star Warsfans have been captivated by the story of Cal Kestis, and we’re thrilled to be working with the world-class developers at Respawn to continue this epic tale. We could not be more excited to reveal Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and this next chapter of Cal Kestis’ journey with players around the world,” said Douglas Reilly, vice president, Lucasfilm Games.

It’s true that we don’t know yet when exactly Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be released but knowing that it’s coming in 2023 should be good enough for Cal’s fans. Hopefully, this one won’t be pushed back like so many other triple A titles this year.
