The development team at DICE and publisher Electronic Arts have been offering a lot of information about the experience that Star Wars: Battlefront will offer on launch, and now the two companies are delivering a look at the first piece of downloadable content for the shooter, called Battle of Jakku.

The footage is under a minute long and is designed to show gamers the kind of experience that they will be able to get from the massive battle that takes place on the planet, which is entirely new to the universe of the franchise.

Battle of Jakku will take place just after the end of the Battle of Endor, which the Rebels see as the moment when the Empire was defeated, and will explain how the planet became almost a living memorial, the way it will be portrayed in the coming Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie.

DICE has explained that it has no plans to offer any kind of details about the actual plot of the film that is set to start off the third trilogy associated with the universe.

Battle of Jakku will be offered for free to all those who get Star Wars: Battlefront, which is a great promotional move.

The DLC will arrive on December 1 for those who have placed a pre-order, and one week later for those who have not.

DICE has promised that the new content will show the kind of experiences that they are planning to add to Star Wars: Battlefront over the course of its lifetime.

The game will be launched on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 on November 17 in the United States, and two days later in Europe.

Star Wars: Battlefront will focus on Heroes and big battles

The Battle of Jakku represents a good occasion for DICE to create a connection between its shooter and the coming The Force Awakens, but the company has made it clear that it will not come up with content linked to the new movie.

Star Wars: Battlefront will focus on the original movie trilogy and will take gamers to the battlefields that were shown or mentioned in it, with Sulluth offering an entirely new environment that was never explored before.

Gamers will be able to turn into powerful heroes, including Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Leia Organa, Han Solo and more, and some of the best ships from the films will also be featured.

DICE is delivering a wide variety of modes, allowing gamers to battle on the ground with different sets of rules or take to the skies in order to pilot an X-Wing or a TIE fighter.

Star Wars: Battlefront is designed to appeal both to long-term fans of the franchise and the Battlefield series and to newcomers who will be attracted by the world the title explores.

DICE and Electronic Arts have already announced that a range of DLC will be launched for it all through 2016, and gamers can already pick up a Season Pass in order to get access to them all for a lower price.
