Star Wars Battlefront might not be everything that fans of the movie universe want from a video game, but a lot of players are ready to pick up the new Outer Rim downloadable content pack, which the developers at DICE and publisher Electronic Arts are ready to offer more details on.

As gamers were speculating when the first image associated with the DLC was revealed, the new heroes that gamers can choose between are Nien Nunb, who appears to be focused on precision shots, and Greedo, the character that Han Solo took out by shooting first.

DICE has not yet revealed the special powers of the two new characters of Star Wars Battlefront and how they can best be used on the battlefield.

The two new maps that are featured in Outer Rim will be set on Sullust, where gamers can do battle among industrial pipes and via platforms that are set above the lava, and on Tatooine, where a sail barge garage and Jabba the Hut's throne room will be opened up for matches.

The new mode that comes as part of the DLC is called Extraction, and the official site states, "Rebel forces have entered some of the most dangerous places in the Outer Rim to extract a valuable shipment of resources. Now they must bring the shipment to their transport ship before time runs out. The Empire has arrived to stop them from reaching the extraction point."

When it comes to weapons, fans of Star Wars Battlefront will be able to pick up the Relby V-10 rifle and the DT-12 blaster pistol, and there are also new Star Cards, like the scatter gun, the adrenaline stim, and the dioxis grenade.

Outer Rim for Star Wars Battlefront will be launched in March, but the exact date has not yet been revealed.

Star Wars Battlefront is also getting a free update this month

DICE wants to keep all members of the player community satisfied, and that means a major new update for the shooter will arrive soon and will tweak some of the core mechanics while also offering some free content for those who are uninterested in getting Outer Rim.

During summer, the studio is planning to introduce Cloud City. Other two new heroes will also make an appearance in Star Wars Battlefront before the end of summer whereas the Death Star itself will become a battleground in the fall of this year.

A fourth and final DLC pack for the shooter is planned for early in 2017, and publisher Electronic Arts has already said that it wants to create more experiences based around Star Wars, although it is unclear whether they will be connected to the new movies or will explore other narratives.

Both DICE and Amy Hennig are working on experiences built around the franchise, but so far, no information about the projects has been revealed.

At the moment, DICE is also working on a new Battlefield video game, which some rumors suggest will take gamers back to World War I and will introduce a range of new team-focused mechanics.
