The Beta has just passed the 9 million mark

Star Wars Battlefront from Electronic Art and DICE is undoubtedly already a winner, and we're only now seeing just how many fans the Star Wars universe really has. EA has reported that nine million players have logged on and played the Beta, which is a huge number by any calculations.

It's difficult to understand just how much nine million is. Let's use Steam as a comparison: when the number of users is at its highest on Steam, it hits 10 million. Granted, this happens almost every day, and the number revealed by Electronic Arts is from the start of the Beta for Star Wars Battlefront, but it's still impressive. In fact, what's more impressive is the fact that the servers haven't imploded from too many users.

And here lies the problem. We can all remember that when the latest Sim City was released, players from around the world had problems logging in and playing for weeks. Now, Star Wars Battlefront will probably draw a much bigger crowd, and it remains to be seen if the company is ready for that. This Beta was a good chance for them to gauge the situation, and they won't be able to say that they weren't ready for it.

Star Wars Battlefront to be the biggest ever

After Star Wars Battlefront launches in mid-November, on all the platforms, the "biggest ever" syntagm will be used a lot. It doesn't matter in which context. Electronic Arts is sitting on a gold mine and it doesn't really know how to share this info with the world.

Senior Producer for Star Wars Battlefront, Sigurlina Ingvarsdottir, seemed to be pretty excited about the turnout for the game. "Impressive. Most Impressive. Yesterday, the Star Wars Battlefront beta surpassed a major milestone: more than nine million players logged in and played. That makes this the single largest beta in the history of EA. We could not be happier that so many of you wanted to come in to get a small taste of what our passionate team has been working on," he said.

Star Wars Battlefront is developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts. The launch is scheduled to take place for all platforms on November 19.
