The Hero system in the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront shooter, as well as the actual Luke Skywalker playable hero, has just received some more details from developer DICE. The studio emphasizes that finding and activating a Hero pickup doesn't make you invincible, but fans will be able to spend a couple of minutes controlling some of the most famous and infamous characters from the sci-fi series.

Star Wars Battlefront is going to make its debut worldwide in November, and in recent months, all sorts of different details about the shooter's mechanics, modes, and features have been revealed by developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts.

The studio is currently getting ready to debut a beta stage across PC, PS4, and Xbox One, but until it's prepared for the test phase, a few new details have just appeared on the official website about the Hero system.

DICE promises that the Hero system is balanced

First up, in case you're unaware, during Battlefront matches, the level has various pickups scattered throughout the actual map. Among them are Hero pickups that allow players to control iconic characters from both the Rebel and the Empire factions, such as Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker.

According to DICE, your time controlling the powerful characters is limited as your health starts to count down until it reaches 0. However, by killing enemies, you can earn some of it back. The studio promises that players will be able to control the heroes for about two minutes, but depending on the skill and the game type, it's certainly possible to extend it.

Luke Skywalker also got a few details about his abilities, ranging from the Force-infused jump to the heavy lightsaber attacks and the iconic Force Push skill. In order to close distances between him and enemies, players can also use Saber Rush.

So far, some of the heroes confirmed for Star Wars Battlefront include Skywalker, as well as Darth Vader and Boba Fett. Expect more to be revealed soon enough.
