Yet another feature missing from Star Wars Battlefront

Despite the fact that Electronic Arts handled the marketing campaign for Star Wars Battlefront quite poorly and many gamers have been disappointed about the lack of certain features, it's still going to be a huge success. What's one new problem amongst so many?

It's pretty obvious that big publishers put a lot more stock on consoles than they do on PC, and this is now really a secret anymore. A lot of companies choose to invest more money in these versions, and they don't usually provide feature parity. On the other hand, PC gamers usually have advantages in other places, like graphics, a much better control scheme, and so on. So, where did Electronic Art and Dice drop the ball?

The official EAStarWars Twitter account has been quite busy these days, and it has provided a lot of feedback. Most of the stuff being discussed there has been pretty civil, but that's not really the point I'm making. One of the questions was about in-game chat, and it looks like the PC version doesn't have support for this particular feature.

PC gaming ignored once more

The PC platform can add the lack of an in-game function to the list of all the other stuff that's missing. And the worst thing about it is the way that Electronic Arts chose to phrase the response, which actually says a lot about how they feel: "You can choose your favorite third party software to communicate with friends on PC."

That means that PC games won't be able to talk with their team-mates, and they won't be able to coordinate attack or defense unless they all know each other, and they happen to use the same "third-party application." Of course, according to Electronic Arts, "Battlefront will utilize the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One built-in party system for in-game chat."
