14 DAY TRIAL // Just as we told out in a previous news piece, Star Trek Online: Awakening has just made its debut on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Voiced by Anthony Rapp, the same actor playing Lt. Commander Paul Stamets in the new Stark Trek: Discovery TV series, the game will take players on a crucial mission to save the Mycelial Network.
New content in the form of patrols, a new Task Force Operation and a special event, has been added as well. In Star Trek Online: Awakening, players must recover Mycelial spore technology stolen by J’Ula, sister of T’Kuvma and matriarch of the Klingon House of Mo’Kai.
To stop the Klingons from causing permanent damage to the Mycelial Network, players require the expertise of an astromycology expert, so that's where Commander Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp) from the U.S.S. Discovery comes in. Creating a sentient hologram of the commander will allow players to repair rifts in the fabric of space.
But that's not all, as the new Awakening expansion includes several other important gameplay features and tons of new content for players to discover. For example, players from all of the game’s factions will be allowed to participate in the new featured episode “Beneath the Skin,” where they depend on a hologram of Commander Paul Stamets from the U.S.S Discovery to safely guide them through the Mycelial Network.
Five new patrols are included in the expansion, along with a new Task Force Operation where up to five players can group against the Elachi. Also, there's a new Mycelial Crisis Event that rewards participants with the new T6 Elachi ship if they play through the new featured episode, patrols and TFO throughout the next month.
A new event UI has been revamped to make it easier for players to access new special events, while the patrol systems are now accessible from a new tab in the PvE system
Last but not least, on November 21, players will be able to purchase the new Intel Science Bundle, which includes the Klingon Balth and the U.S.S. Somerville, a starship first introduced in the Star Trek Comics from IDW Publishing.
