The update is consistent and it comes with a new weapon

Star Citizen seems to be coming along, despite all the discussions surrounding the development process, and a new Alpha has been released.

If you're a fan of Star Citizen and if you've already pledged money to it, then you must feel like the development of this game is taking forever. Unlike most projects, especially as big as this one, people learn about it when most of the work is already done and when the marketing team goes in gear.

With Star Citizen, things are different and people have seen this game being built from the ground up. It also means that they get to experience the full development process, and in the case of Star Citizen, it's going to take a few years. That explains the fact that the latest version released is 2.1.0 Alpha, which only goes to show just how long it will take.

Star Citizen 2.1.0 Alpha brings new ships

As it stands right now, there isn't much to do in Star Citizen, if you're a backer and if you have access to the entire game. There are some modules available, and we've recently seen what developers are planning to do with planet to space transitions, but that's pretty much it. The good news is that things are evolving, albeit very slowly.

“Alpha 2.1 features two new flyable ships in Crusader: the MISC Freelancer and the Aegis Vanguard Warden. (Surprise!) The Aegis Sabre is now hangar ready, for those eager to explore their brand new space superiority fighters! There’s more to discover in Crusader as well, including a new type of mission surrounding the Covalex Shipping hub,” developers explained on their blog.

The makers of the game have also added a new weapon called the Apocalypse Arms REVENANT ballistic Gatling gun, which is a size 4, and it can be mounted on Vanguard, Constellation and (with an adaptive mount) the Cutlass and Hornet.

There is no information about the next Alpha version.
