It looks like the remake of the Final Fantasy VII might not last a decade as many of us believed after Square Enix revealed how long it took for the first part to be ready. The first part of Final Fantasy VII Remake is expected to arrive on March 3, 2020, and it will be released exclusively for PlayStation 4.

Although fans have been a bit disappointed that they won't get the full game next year, it looks like this is truly a titanic endeavor that takes a long time to finish. As some of you might already know, the first part of Final Fantasy VII Remake focuses solely on Midgar, so we won't be getting any glimpses at what's outside the legendary city.

However, the second part will expand to locations outside Midgar, Square Enix confirmed in a blog post. In fact, the Japanese developer confirmed that work on the second part of the game has already begun.

Unfortunately, it's still too early to tell how much content will go into Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2. Tetsuya Nomura, the game's Director & Concept Design said that “we've already begun working on the next one as well, but I'm confident that playing through this title will expand your expectations just like the world that extends beyond Midgar.

He also said that even though the first part of the game focuses on Midgar solely, its size is much larger than many would anticipate, so it had to “give directions to lighten them.” Nomura confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Remake will include new bosses that weren't part of the original game.

At this time, it's impossible to anticipate how many parts Final Fantasy VII Remake will end up having, but we'll probably have a tentative answer after the release of the second part, which won't probably happen until many years from now.
