14 DAY TRIAL // Final Fantasy VII Remake is one of the most good-looking PlayStation 4 games, but that didn't stop Square Enix from making it even gorgeous. The Japanese developers recently revealed it has decided to release a PlayStation 5 version of the game this year.
Dubbed Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, the game is an enhanced and expanded version of the original, and includes a new episode featuring ninja and thief Yuffie Kisaragi as the main character. Players who purchase FFVII Remake on PlayStation 4 can upgrade to the PS5 version for free, but they will have to purchase the new episode featuring Yuffie as a standalone download.
On the other hand, owners of the disc version of FFVII Remake on PlayStation 4 will require a PS5 console with disc drive to take advantage of the free digital upgrade. Finally, Square Enix confirmed that physical and digital Standard Edition, as well as a Digital Deluxe Edition for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, will be released on June 10.
As far as the improvements PS5 players will get when upgrading to the Intergrade version, Square Enix revealed that there will be improved textures, lighting, and background environments. Also, players will be able to switch between two game modes: Graphics Mode (prioritizes 4K high-resolution graphics) and Performance Mode (prioritizes smooth action at 60 frames per second).
A fully customizable Photo Mode will be added, along with a new difficulty setting for Classic Mode, which should provide new ways to play the game. More importantly, FFVII Remake Intergrade will benefit from the PS5's hardware, so expect loading times to be much faster than on the PS4.
Last but not least, FFVII Remake Intergrade will take advantage of the PS5's DualSense wireless controller, with its haptic feedback integration, which will allow players to enjoy dynamic bike racing with its adaptive triggers.
The new episode featuring Yuffie as the main character lets players take on a new adventure in which the beloved ninja infiltrates the Shinra Corporation to steal a powerful materia and restore glory to her homeland. Along with Yuffie, a couple of other new characters will appear in this new episode, which will also include an expanded gameplay experience featuring multiple new combat and gameplay additions.
