If you’re in the market looking for a smartwatch for your kids, Sprint has a brand-new model that costs only $144 and comes with some pretty interesting features.

The so-called WatchMeGo is a small device aimed at children ages 4 to 12 and which includes built-in GPS tracking to let parents monitor their child’s location in real time.

As many other smartwatches for kids, this model includes an SOS button that allows the child to alert parents, but also support for sending and receiving voice and text messages.

The watch can pair with a smartphone using a dedicated app called Kidomi, with access to features such as alerts whenever a child exists a pre-defined zone. The parents can thus monitor their kids and be alerted whenever they step outside what is being described as a safety area.

Two colors, one size

WatchMeGo comes with a 400 mAh battery and is powered by an ARM Cortex A7 chip paired with 512MB RAM. The 1.39-inch display is protected by Gorilla Glass for extra resistance against scratches.

It’s available in two colors, blue and red, and in just one 48mm size.

Unfortunately for those who want to buy the watch outside the US, this isn’t possible, as it requires a connection to Sprint.

“WatchMeGo works on the Sprint LTE network only. WatchMeGo may NOT work in LTE extended coverage (roaming). If you’re traveling domestically or internationally, you can always check the location and get alerts from a linked child’s WatchMeGo if it is still located in the United States or Puerto Rico and on the Sprint 4G LTE network,” Sprint explains.

However, anyone can buy WatchMeGo, and you don’t necessarily have to be a Sprint handset subscriber to get the device. It can be purchased from both Sprint stores and Sprint.com using the link above.
