The official Spotify app for Windows 10 was announced with much fanfare last month at the Surface Laptop and Windows 10 S event, with Microsoft also revealing that Apple would be launching iTunes in the Windows Store as well.

And while Cupertino is yet to say anything about its Windows 10 version of iTunes, Spotify seems to be moving a bit faster, with the official listing already spotted in the Windows Store.

At this point, the official Spotify app for Windows 10 can’t be downloaded just yet, but since it’s already in the Windows Store, it shouldn’t take too long before the download links show up as well.

The feature lineup of the Windows version seems to be very similar to the one of the desktop client, so with a free account user will be able to play any song, artist, album or playlist, check out the charts, stream radio, listen to podcasts and audio books.

iTunes expected this summer as well

On the other hand, the premium account brings some pretty compelling extras, including options to download tunes and play them offline, remove ads, and get better sound quality.

“Stream the tracks you love instantly, browse the charts or fire up readymade playlists in every genre and mood. Radio plays you great song after great song, based on your music taste. Discover new music too, with awesome playlists built just for you,” the description of the app in the Store reads.

Spotify lands in the Windows Store with support for PCs, which means it won’t be a universal app and won’t work on smartphones running Windows 10 Mobile. Windows 10 Creators Update is required.

As far as Apple and the Windows 10 version of iTunes are concerned, Cupertino remains tight-lipped for the time being, but with sales of Windows 10 S devices, including the Surface Laptop, kicking off this month, it shouldn’t be too long before the app makes it to the Windows Store as well.
