Grimlore Games, the Munich-based studio behind the most recent game in the SpellForce franchise, have just announced a brand new DLC for SpellForce 3: Soul Harvest. Dubbed Oktoberfest, the new DLC is available on Steam and every owner of SpellForce 3: Soul Harvest can add it to his or her library free of charge.

In case you're wondering what is going to add in terms of gameplay, the answer is not much. First off, there's a new skirmish map called “Battle for the Theresa’s Meadow,” which is set in the fabled land of Bavaria, known for its lush meadows, cantankerous peasants, and luscious liquors.

Then, a new Human multiplayer-hero Alois Bierdimpl has been added for the Oktoberfest map, a Bavarian brewmaster with two new skill trees guaranteed to raise your spirits. Also, a new Bavarian outpost commander voice-over, which can also be used in regular skirmish matches (German voices only) is available for SpellForce 3: Soul Harvest players.

Last but not least, those who add the new DLC to their library will be able to listen to the new Oktoberfest-themed tunes on the new skirmish map.

Although SpellForce 3: Soul Harvest is primarily a single-player game, it offers important multiplayer features as well, such as a modern multiplayer lobby to allow for earlier matchmaking and ranked play, and the option to create maps with modding tools. Each faction in multiplayer mode has two unique heroes that complement individual playstyles.

If you only own the original SpellForce 3 game, here is what you'll get if you decide to buy Soul Harvest (which is a standalone expansion): new campaign featuring new storyline with over 20 hours of content, new abilities and skill trees for even more diverse heroes, new RTS gameplay, unique mechanics and unique unit kits, flying units that allow more tactical elements, two new factions (Dwarves and Dark Elves), and an overhauled UI.
