Sony's flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z5 Premium, was officially introduced back in September at IFA 2015 trade fair, but it didn't go on sale until this month.

Beginning this week, customers in various European countries, including Germany and the UK, will be able to purchase the Xperia Z5 Premium for around €800 outright.

In the UK, customers will have to come up with £630 upfront for the unlocked version of Sony Xperia Z5 Premium. However, Carphone Warehouse offers the same variant for just £600.

On top of that, customers that can't afford to pay the upfront price will be able to grab the Xperia Z5 Premium for free on 2-year contracts with various carriers in the country.

The first Android smartphone to come with a 4K display, the Xperia Z5 Premium has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor used inside its Xperia Z3+ predecessor.

The large 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display supports 2160 x 3840 pixels resolution and features scratch-resistant glass and oleophobic coating.

It comes with Lollipop, but Marshmallow is on the way

Although the phone comes preloaded with Android 5.1 Lollipop onboard, Sony is likely to offer an Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade in the coming months.

Another selling point of the Xperia Z5 Premium is the impressive 23-megapixel photo snapper on the back side, which features autofocus, LED flash, Sony Exmor RS image sensor, Sony G lens, 0.03 Hybrid AF speed and 4K video recording.

At the front, the phone packs a secondary 5.1-megapixel selfie camera that can capture full HD (1080p) videos.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is IP68 certified (dust proof and water resistant) and packs 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 200GB).

It's also worth mentioning that the phone is powered by a non-removable 3,430 mAh battery and offers multiple connectivity options such as 4G LTE, NFC (Near Field Communication), Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, FM Radio with RDS and GPS with AGPS support.
