Older Xperia smartphone will follow soon afterwards

Sony has already released an Android 6.0 Marshmallow concept to Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact devices, but not everyone is allowed into the beta program.

The Japanese company has yet to announce the timings of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow release for its Xperia lineup, but one well-known leakster claims Sony is going to launch the highly-anticipated update in about a month.

However, the update will only be available for Sony Xperia Z5 family while older Xperia models will follow shortly. The same tipster leaked information about the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow concept build by revealing the exact release date.

Keep in mind, though, that the information provided by @Ricciolo1 might be Sony's currently targeted timeframe for the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which might change at any time during testing.

But, since the beta program seems to be shaping up nicely, the chances that Marshmallow for Xperia Z5 family will be pushed to February or March are very slim at the moment.

A near-stock Android build will be a nice surprise for Xperia owners

Aside from the usual Android 6.0 Marshmallow new features and improvements, Sony is likely to implement some of its own.

Even though the Japanese company is working on a near-stock Android build, Sony will also include some of the proprietary battery saving software features like Stamina mode.

It will be interesting to see what other Sony proprietary features will be making it into the final Android 6.0 Marshmallow build for the Xperia Z5 family, as well as other older Xperia models.

If you're the proud owner of an Xperia Z3 or an Xperia Z3 Compact and managed to get accepted into the beta program, you might have already tested some of the features to be part of the company's Android 6.0 Marshmallow build. Stay tuned for more info on this one.
