Not long ago, word got out that Sony was working on two smartphones that could debut in the next few days. One of the handsets, the Xperia X Compact, has been recently spotted on GFXBench, and some of its specs have been revealed.

Specs for the Xperia X Compact leaked a few days ago, and the recent listing on GFXBench seems to confirm what we knew about the upcoming device, while also bringing some new information to the table. The GFXBench listing was spotted by Telefoonabonement, and the revealed specs confirm previous rumors.

As such, Xperia X Compact could sport a 4.6-inch display and draw power from a 2,700mAh battery. It could also pack a Snapdragon 820 SoC and come with a USB Type-C port. RAM capacity is rumored to be 3GB, but the GFXBench listing shows that Sony will offer 4GB of RAM in the Xperia X Compact.

Aside from this, the phone seems to offer 64GB of internal storage and feature a 16MP rear camera as well as an 8MP unit on the front. It will also come with an Adreno 530 graphics processing unit and run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

Sony could unveil the Xperia X Compact on September 1

The specs are quite similar to those of Sony Xperia X Performance. Sony is one of the few smartphone manufacturers that create compact versions of certain models but keep specs at the same level.

Sony actually provides compact phones with a smaller display and resolution but maintains RAM capacity, battery and processor power at the same level as on the initial model. This way, Sony can accurately address the needs of consumers who look for powerful and fast smartphones, but with a comfortable-sized display.

Some suggest that Sony could unveil the Xperia X Compact and the Xperia XR (XZ) as early as September 1, during its presentation at IFA 2016. Other reports suggest that the two handsets could debut on September 24, alongside Style Covers. Seeing how these are the last few days of August, the wait will be over soon.
