The unofficial image is based on raw factory schematics

Sony Mobile is unlikely to announce a new flagship, the Xperia Z6 at Mobile World Congress next month, but the Japanese company will unveil at least a handful of new products at the trade fair.

Last week, Sony sent out invitations for an MWC 2016 event, which will take place on February 22 in Barcelona, Spain. Unfortunately, there's little to no information about the devices that might be unveiled at the press conference.

Since information about the unannounced Xperia Z6 has yet to leak, it would make sense to assume that Sony's flagship smartphone is not yet ready for prime time.

The good news is each year Sony introduces several mid-range Android smartphones around the same time as its flagship. Since the Japanese company has already confirmed a press event for MWC 2016, we're expecting at least a few new Xperia smartphones to be announced there.

One of these devices could be the Xperia C6, which might be the successor of the Xperia C5 Ultra, a mid-range Android smartphone launched back in August.

An unofficial render of the unannounced Sony Xperia C6 has been recently published by @OnLeaks, who's usually a reliable source. The image is based on raw factory schematics they have been able to get their hands on.

Rectangular form factor, thinner chassis

At first glance, the front side of the alleged Xperia C6 looks a lot like its predecessor, the Xperia C5 Ultra, but the upper and bottom bezels seem slightly larger.

On the bright side, the smartphone does seem to feature a bezel-less display, as the left and right edges are very thin. The camera on the rear is relocated from the middle to the upper left corner.

Also, the new device in the Xperia C looks a bit thinner and more compact. Its rectangular form factor should improve user's grip while handling it with just one hand.

Overall, the Xperia C6 seems like an improvement over previous models in the series, at least regarding design. Sadly, there aren't any details on the phone's specs yet, but as we're getting close to the official unveiling, new information might emerge so stick around.
