It's been months since Sony teased us with some information about its next-generation console, the PlayStation 5, but this week it finally happened. The Japanese giant recently revealed the design of the PlayStation 5 and opinions are very diverse. Some find the design unpractical, while others love it but prefer another color.

But when all is said and done, everyone agrees that PlayStation 5's design looks quite futuristic. Although the console was showcased on the vertical resting on a special support, PlayStation 5 can be used on the horizontal as well.

What you see in the picture above are the two PlayStation 5 options Sony will offer later this year: a PlayStation 5 console with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and a PlayStation 5 Digital Edition without a disc drive. Theoretically, the no-disc model should have a bigger SSD, but that's just a guess.

Both next-generation consoles – PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, will use an ultra-fast SSD that eliminates loading times almost completely. As such, it will be more expensive than traditional SSDs, which is why we believe the Digital Edition model might cost a bit more than the one with the Blu-ray disc.

Along with the PlayStation 5's design, Sony also revealed some of the games that will be available on its upcoming console, including a new Spider-Man game, a Demon Souls remaster, and a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn.

There was no mention of the price during Sony's “The Future of Gaming” event, nor anything about availability, so your guess is as good as ours. One thing is certain, the PlayStation 5, just like the Xbox Series X, will make its debut on the market this holiday.

Even though both consoles will be launched later this year, pre-orders are expected to open in just a few months. We'll probably learn more about these two important aspects – price and availability, during the summer, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
