Many gamers have been focused on the rumors about the new NEO version of the PlayStation 4 that's supposed to arrive this year, but Sony is also busy creating exclusive video games for its gaming platform, confirming that it is currently planning to launch two big titles before the end of the year.

According to Phillipe Cardon, Vice President of Sony in Europe, the plan is to deliver both the long-awaited The Last Guardian and the newly announced GT Sports before 2016 is through to give fans reasons to get one of its home consoles.

The interview is in French, but the translation shows that both video games are designed to anchor a great year for the PlayStation 4 and are as big for the company as the delivery of the PlayStation VR virtual reality platform, set to arrive sometime in October.

The executive has not offered any details on when the two titles might be delivered to gamers or when the company is planning to offer more info about them.

Given their high profile, it's probable that Sony will talk about them during the coming E3 2016 press conference and will deliver them to the market during the fall launch season.

The Last Guardian has been in the works since 2007

The game was shown multiple times by the company during its press events, but it has also been affected by plenty of delays and efforts to update it to work on newer Sony home consoles.

The Last Guardian is set to tell the story of a boy who has been kidnapped and needs to escape a big and ruined castle with the help of a creature called Trico, who resembles a griffin and can help him navigate the environment and battle enemies.

When development started, the plan was to deliver the game on the PS3, and in 2012, the development team switched to the PlayStation 4 to offer improved graphics and gameplay.

GT Sports is the next project from Polyphony Digital, a racing title designed from the ground up to take advantage of the improved computing power of the new home consoles.

The development team says that it wants to give players a classic gameplay of the Gran Turismo series but with more accessible mechanics and a larger array of events to compete in.

It's unclear whether either of the two video games will have features designed for the PlayStation VR headset.
