Sony is quite adept at keeping secrets, so the only way to find out how much the PlayStation 5 will cost and when exactly it will be available for purchase is to wait for an official announcement. The next major PlayStation-related event revealed by Sony will take place in just a few days, but won't include any news about the upcoming console.

The Japanese company confirmed earlier today that its next State of Play show is set to kick off on August 6 at 1:00 pm Pacific time / 4:00 pm Eastern Time / 9:00 BST. The event will be streamed live on Twitch and YouTube, so there's no way any PlayStation fan can miss it.

Unless the only thing that interests you are news about PlayStation 5, in which case you'll want to skip this State of Play since that won't happen. Sony has been quite clear that the show will focus on third-party-published games coming to PlayStation 4 and PS VR.

Although there will be some PlayStation 5 game updates on third-party and indie titles that were presented during June's PS5 showcase, there will be no news about unannounced titles or the console itself.

And just to be super clear — there will be no PlayStation Studios updates in Thursday’s episode. There won’t be any updates around hardware, business, preorders, or dates either. On Thursday, our focus is squarely on showcasing some cool upcoming games coming to the broader PlayStation ecosystem. Should be fun!

Ok, now that we won't get our hopes high, it's worth adding the episode is weighing in at around 40 minutes, so it won't be that long. According to Sony, a great lineup of games will be showcased during this episode of State of Play, along with new gameplay footage and other game updates, so make sure to tune in if you're a PlayStation fan.
