The PlayStation 5 is due out this holiday, but before we get an exact release date, here are a couple of mandatory details about the upcoming console courtesy of Sony. It looks like many gamers have asked the Japanese company to release information about PlayStation 4 accessories and peripherals that would be compatible with the PlayStation 5.

It's very important for those who hope to be able to continue to use some of the accessories they bought for the PlayStation 4 to know whether or not they need a bigger budget. In any case, here are the answers to some of these important questions that many PlayStation fans have been asking since the reveal of PlayStation 5.

First off, all specialty peripherals, such as officially licensed racing wheels, arcade sticks, and flight sticks, will work with PlayStation 5 games and supported PlayStation 4 games. Also, the Platinum and Gold Wireless Headsets, as well as third-party headsets that connect via USB port or audio jack, will work on PlayStation 5. However, the headphones companion app will no longer support the PlayStation 5.

More importantly, while the DualShock 4 wireless controller and any PlayStation officially licensed third-party gamepad controllers will work with supported PlayStation 4 games, it will not work with PlayStation 5 games. Basically, you can play PS4 games on your PlayStation 5 using a DualShock 4 controller, but you can't play PS5 games with the same controller.

We believe that PS5 games should take advantage of the new capabilities and features we’re bringing to the platform, including the features of DualSense wireless controller.”

On the bright side, both the PS Move Motion Controllers and the PlayStation VR Aim Controller will work with supported PS VR games on PlayStation 5. The same goes for the PlayStation Camera, although it will require a special adaptor that will be provided at no additional cost to PS VR users.
