14 DAY TRIAL // Sony has just unveiled the company’s new flagship phone called Xperia 1 and coming with top hardware that once against set a new standard in the mobile industry.
First and foremost, the Xperia 1 features a 6.5-inch 4K OLED screen with a rather unusual 21:9 ultra-wide aspect ratio.
As the world’s first smartphone with a 4K OLED display, the new Xperia 1 features intensive optimizations to improve graphics quality, including a dedicated X1 chip that’s supposed to power color and contrast settings similar to the ones on BRAVIA screens.
Sony pushed the display to 843 ppi, which is the highest right now in the OLED mobile phone business, and all main rivals are behind at far distance. For example, the recently launched Galaxy S10 only reaches 550 ppi, while the display on the iPhone XS Max offers 458 ppi with a 1242x2688 pixels resolution.
The Xperia 1 comes with a triple-camera setup on the back with the following configuration:

Launching in the spring
The Xperia 1 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage, with microSD card support also offered for the addition of up to 512GB.
The battery is a 3,330 mAh unit, and the phone come with a USB-C connector, but without a headphone jack.
One important change concerns the fingerprint sensor, which is no longer on the back and has once again been moved to the side power button. The Xperia 1 is IP68 rated and offers the typical Sony feature package, like Dolby Atmos, stereo speakers, and the smart amplifier.
The Xperia 1 will go on sale in the spring of this year in two colors, namely purple and black, and pricing details will be announced closer to the release. However, given it’s Sony’s flagship, don’t expect it to come cheap.
