If you own a PlayStation 3 or 4 and an Android smartphone or tablet, then you will be pleased to know that Sony has just released an application that allows you to access a massive catalog of movies and TV shows.

The application is called PlayStation Video and is now available for download via Google Play Store. On the bright side, the application doesn’t cost anything, but the bad news is it’s only available in several countries.

According to Sony, PlayStation Video can now be downloaded in Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. If you live in other countries, the application will not appear in the store for you.

With PlayStation Video, users will be able to watch movies and TV shows purchased or rented from PlayStation Store. Also, the application can be used to rent or buy content directly from the Store.

Access new movies before or the same day that are released on DVD

Sony also claims that the movies will be published in the PlayStation Store before or on same day the DVD hits shelves. Naturally, you will be able to access movies and TV shows on PlayStation 3 and 4, and Web (in HD on compatible devices) and select other devices.

The Japanese company has also confirmed that movie and TV content is subject to availability and may vary across regions. Also, the for the time being, TV content is unavailable in Mexico and Brazil.

“This app is handy if you want to stream already-purchased video content from PS Store to your Android device or purchase new movies, including Spectre, Crimson Peak and The Last Witch Hunter, and TV shows, including Arrow, The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, straight from your phone or tablet,” explains Sony in a blog post.

You can now download PlayStation Video for Android for free via Google Play store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.4 and up.
