“Please take us back,” the man pleaded and implored

It was in 1776 that the United States of America was born and declared its independence from the British Empire. It's been a few good centuries since then, but as it turns out, there are some who are pining for the days when what is now the US belonged to the Brits.

Especially these days, when another round of elections is coming up and some of the presidential candidates aren't exactly, well, crème de la crème.

Very much disappointed with the country's current political scene, some guy recently sent a letter to Queen Elizabeth II and David Cameron, Prime Minister of the UK, pleading and imploring them to take back the US and have it made into a British colony once more.

“On behalf of the American people, I urgently implore you to please take us back. Clearly, the options we have to lead us aren't up to par. Again, please, I beg of you, make the United States of America a colony of the United Kingdom.”

“For further reasons as to why this is such a necessary, albeit drastic, step, I refer to tonight's Republican Party primary debate. Thank you. God save the Queen,” the man wrote in his letter to Queen Elizabeth II and David Cameron.

The big shock was he actually got a reply

He most definitely didn't see this one coming, but apparently, this guy hoping the US might be saved were it to become a British colony once again actually got a reply from the Buckingham Palace.

By the looks of it, the Queen and the UK Prime Minister were quite moved by all his pleading and imploring, and so agreed that his letter shouldn't simply be ignored.

Unfortunately, the letter the man got all the way from the Buckingham Palace wasn't the answer he'd been praying for. Long story short, it would seem the Queen has no interest in resurrecting the British Empire, not even for the sake of one of its former colonies.

“Whilst your views have been noted, you will appreciate, I am sure, that there can be no question of the Queen intervening in the affairs of another sovereign state,” the response letter read.

Well then, that's that. Whoever it was that wrote to Queen Elizabeth II asking that she take back the US will just have to settle for voting a new president rather than try to learn the proper way to drink tea.
