14 DAY TRIAL // The Solus Project announced today that the latest GNOME 3.34 desktop environment is now available for all users of the independently developed Linux-based computer operating system, along with many other updates and bug fixes.
Launched in mid-September, the GNOME 3.34 desktop environment has only been available for a few GNU/Linux distributions as upgrading from a previous release looks to be a rigorous and hard process for OS vendors. Solus 4 users are now among the first to use GNOME 3.34 on their personal computers.
"This stack upgrade has been rigorously tested by a wide range of users via our unstable repository, all of whom provided valuable feedback and reports over on our development tracker. This upgrade has also fortunately been smoother compared to previous stack upgrades," said lead developer Joshua Strobl in the latest news roundup.
Budgie 10.5.1, KDE Plasma and MATE updates
Also today, Solus 4 users are getting the latest Budgie 10.5.1 desktop environment, which introduces various bug fixes to improve Budgie Menu artifacting, notifications, as well as window raise performance, the Raven notification center, IconTasklist, authentication dialogs, and more.
And there's also good news for KDE Plasma and MATE fans, as Solus Project has pushed the latest KDE Applications 19.08.1 software suite for Solus KDE Plasma users, and all the latest update from the upstream MATE desktop environment for Solus MATE users. Additionally, Software Center was updated with support for installing the TeamViewer app.
To get all these goodies, the Solus Project strongly recommends you to perform a full upgrade via the Software Center or the command-line by running the "sudo eopkg up" command. If you're running Solus 4 and you have all the updates applied, you're already running GNOME 3.34 and Budgie 10.5.1.
