Now that they've launched the long anticipated first ISO snapshot of the Linux-based Solus operating system, which brought many enhancements and updated technologies, the Solus devs announce the roadmap for 2017.

After reviewing everything they've accomplished in 2016, which appears to have been a great year for them, the development team announces that their efforts will be invested in the development of the Linux Driver Management tool with a focus on Nvidia hybrid laptops, as well as the upcoming Budgie 11 desktop environment.

"For Q1 of 2017, we’ll be first focusing on the development of our switchable graphics solution, Linux Driver Management. Initially, the focus will be on Optimus support," reveals Joshua Strobl, Solus Project Communications Manager. "After LDM work has been complete, we’ll be focusing on Budgie 11 development."

Budgie 11 to feature a richer UX with better animations

This work will be done in Q1 2017, which means the months of January to March, during which they'll be working on improving the in-house built developer tools, such as ypkg-tools and Solhub. They also plan on replacing the current Wiki with a brand-new Help Center and Git-enabled documentation.

As for Budgie 11, which, unfortunately, did not land for Christmas last year, it promises to add a multitude of improvements to both Raven notifications center and Budgie Panel, among which we can mention the ability to resize Raven, multi-monitor and intellihide support for the panel, as well as new "Do Not Disturb" functionality.

And this is only the roadmap for Q1 2017, as the Solus development team plans on rewriting the Software Center graphical package manager to C, as well as to replace the old eopkg command-line package manager with sol during Q2 2017. More info about all this should be available for your reading pleasure in the official announcement.
