NorthBay Healthcare Corporation suffered a data breach incident which affected the information of everyone who applied for a position within the organization between December 2012 and May 2018.

As described in the data breach notice template filed with the Office of the Attorney General of the State of California's Department of Justice, NorthBay Healthcare Corporation was informed by Jobscience Inc on October 3 that an unauthorized individual accessed NorthBay's applicant information.

Jobscience Inc is "a contracted vendor that provides NorthBay with online employment application management system services," according to NorthBay's data breach notice (PDF).

As detailed by Jobscience Inc's report, during the data breach incident the first and last names, home addresses, dates of birth, email addresses, Social Security numbers, or alien registration numbers may have been stolen by the bad actor who managed to compromise the organization's database.

Even though the crooks behind the attack have not been able to steal sensitive information such as credit card payment details, they might still be able to attempt identity theft attacks if they have sufficient information to do so.

The attackers behind the data breach got away with Social Security numbers and personally identifiable information of Northbay applicants

Moreover, although NorthBay Healthcare Corporation states that there is no evidence of any of the stolen information having been misused, all affected individuals will receive "a complimentary one-year membership to Experian’s IdentityWorksSM Credit 3B."

According to NorthBay's notification, with the help of this product, all applicants affected by the data theft incident will be able to detect whenever a third party uses their personal information.

Furthermore, it also comes with built-in "identity protection services focused on immediate identification and resolution of identity theft."

As reported by Northbay, they "are working with Jobscience, Inc. to take steps to prevent a similar incident from occurring in the future, including taking remedial security steps, such as forcing password resets."
