14 DAY TRIAL // CI Games announced a while ago that Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 will be coming to PC and consoles on PC on June 4. Unfortunately, the developer partially backtracked on its initial statement and revealed a small change.
As the title says, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 won't be launched on June 4 on PlayStation 5. CI Games announced that this specific version of the game has been having issues that need to be fixed before it's ready for prime time.
These “unforeseen technical issues” have been discovered recently, hence the need for a delay. The good news is that these issues don't affect other platforms, so if you'd rather play the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, or PC, you will be able to do so starting June 4.
Moreover, CI Games announced that as a gesture of goodwill in light of this news it will offer the first major DLC release (a new and extensive map complete with brand new contracts) free of charge to the entire player base across all versions, including PS5, PS4, Xbox X/S, Xbox One, and PC. The said DLC is currently in development, so expect more news about when exactly it will be available for download very soon.
“We could not have foreseen these issues. However, we would like to assure our players that our highly experienced, professional, and dedicated team are working hard with the platform holder and engine provider to resolve the problems as soon as feasibly possible, to ensure we can bring the PS5 community the high caliber sniping game they have been waiting for. We will offer a free digital upgrade to the PS5 version with all physical and digital purchases of the PS4 release,” said Tobias Heussner, EP, CI Games.
Last but not least, those who own both PS4 and PS5 consoles and don't want to wait for the delayed version of the game, can purchase the game on PS4 and upgrade for free to the PS5 version when it's released later on. This applies to both digital and physical iterations of Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2.
