A few days ago, Qualcomm promised to reveal details regarding Snapdragon 835 during the Consumer Electronics Show 2017, starting January 5 in Las Vegas. However, it seems that slides with the CES presentation have leaked online.

The slides reveal that the chipset built by Samsung uses the 10nm mode and will provide 27% improved performance over the Snapdragon 820 chip, according to Android Pure.

It will also use less power compared to its predecessor and a smaller footprint. Snapdragon 835 will consume half the power compared to Snapdragon 801 and will have improved efficiency.

The first gigabit-class LTE modem

The chip will come with Kryo 280 cores, while the X16 LTE modem on the Snapdragon 835 SoC will be the first to have a gigabit-class LTE modem.

The Snapdragon 835 chipset will come coupled with the Adreno 540 graphics processing unit that supports 60 times more colors compared to other Snapdragon chips and has 25% faster rendering. The GPU will support 10-bit, 4K and 60fps video playbacks with OpenGL ES, Vulkan and DirectX 12 graphics.

The new chipset will also have Qualcomm Haven Security, making it the first to support the full biometric suite of protection. Moreover, Qualcomm Spectra Camera ISP ensures smoother zoom, fast autofocus, and true-to-life colors.

Snapdragon 835 will allow for more feature integration. Moreover, it will have a smaller size compared to its predecessors, which means it would allow for thinner phones, larger batteries, lower power consumption, and a better battery life.

The chipset could be featured in the upcoming LG G6 or Samsung Galaxy S8, which might be announced during an event in April in New York City. LG is said to be planning to rush the announcement of its upcoming flagship and might unveil the G6 in February and make it available in stores in March.
