Samsung Galaxy S23 is the next big release in the mobile industry, and people familiar with the matter claim the unveiling could take place even earlier than usual.

But as we get closer to this highly anticipated launch, more information also sees the daylight, with new Geekbench data revealing important details about the processor.

As it turns out, Samsung plans to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor on at least one version of the device, and most likely, this is the U.S. configuration.

In other words, the Galaxy S23 sold in the United States will come with a Snapdragon chip, and at some level, this isn’t necessarily surprising anyway. The Galaxy S models sold here have always been fitted with Snapdragon chips, so the big news this time is that the South Korean company is going for the next-generation Qualcomm flagship.

Now the big question is whether Samsung plans to release the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S models in the rest of the markets as well.

Previously, the company has faced intense criticism for fitting the international versions of the Galaxy S models with its in-house Exynos chip, mostly because of the performance difference versus the Snapdragon sibling. People familiar with the matter suggested that Samsung could eventually bring the Snapdragon-powered models to all markets, but at this point, it’s not clear if this new approach would come into effect with the release of the Galaxy S23 or not.

One thing is clear though: the debut of the Galaxy S23 is approaching, and this time, Samsung could take the wraps off the device even earlier than usual. There’s a chance the unveiling takes place in January, with the sales to begin in early February, only a couple of weeks after the early 2023 Unpacked event.
