And yet, Snapchat still doesn’t want to release a WP client

Windows Phone is very close to getting the upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile, and developer interest in the platform is growing but still doesn’t seem to be reason enough for Snapchat to create an official client for Microsoft users.

In the meantime, the change.org petition calling for Snapchat to develop a Windows Phone version of its client has nearly 58,000 supporters, which does nothing more than to prove that such an app would actually experience a pretty significant success should it be released.

“We have been waiting years on an official app for Snapchat on WP, but now Snapchat are blocking us from using 6snap and then it is much more important to make an app! They're making new features into Snapchat and use money on that, but instead of that they should make an app for Windows Phone!” the petition reads.

Chances of getting a Snapchat client on Windows Phone

While everyone hopes that Snapchat will change its mind once Windows 10 Mobile becomes available, it appears that there are only slight chances for this to happen.

Rudy Huyn, the developer of Snapchat client 6snap that was banned in 2015, says that the company hates Microsoft so much that not only will it refuse to create an official client for Windows Phone, but it’ll also block any other third-party applications from connecting to its service.

“They don’t care. They hate Microsoft and will do everything to kill you,” he says. “Whatever the API you use, Snapchat’s lawyer will send you a mail, don’t lose your time. Remember one thing: there is a lot of Snapchat third-party apps on Android/iOS, but they send lawyers to WP only. Sideloading is not an option.”

The only thing we could do right now is to sign this petition, contact Snapchat by all available means, and just hope that when Windows 10 Mobile goes live, the company will have one more reason to create an official client for Microsoft users.
