14 DAY TRIAL // German company Dirror has launched a lineup of smart mirrors that are powered by Windows 10 and provide users with a long list of features, including the typical clear image reflecting thing.
“Why would anyone purchase a mirror running Windows 10?” you could ask. Although at first glance it might sound a little bit odd to have a mirror that runs an operating system, the whole purpose here is to provide users with more advanced features, such as instant access to calendars, notes, the weather forecast and similar details.
The German firm is selling three different configurations of the mirror, with the base model priced at approximately $1,000. So it’s pretty clear from the very beginning that this isn’t a cheap mirror, but one that costs more than the average person is willing to spend on a laptop.
Available configurations
As German site WindowsArea reports, you can choose from three different configurations whose prices vary as you choose more powerful hardware.
First and foremost, there’s the base model called Dirror S which comes with a 10.1-inch display and a resolution of 1280x800 pixels. It is powered by an Intel Atom x5-Z8300 processor and comes with 32GB storage and 2GB RAM. Pricing starts at 970 euros, which is nearly $1050.
Then, it’s the bigger Dirror M, which features a 23-inch display and a more powerful processor, the Atom x7-Z8700, plus 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. This time, pricing starts at 1870 euro ($2000) and goes all the way up to 1970 euros ($2100) depending on the frame you choose.
And last but not least, there’s the ultimate super-smart Dirror L mirror that comes with the best you can get in this business at the moment, including 27-inch full HD display. Pricing is, just like you’d expect it to be, pretty overwhelming: 2480 euros ($2650).
Dirror says the mirrors support features such as Cortana, but can also be connected to other smart home systems, including Sonos and lights. They obviously feature Wi-Fi for quick Internet access.
